Welcome Citizen Scientists

Citizen Science is all about curiosity. It means paying attention to the world around you, whether it is spotting a bird, noticing changes in the river, or simply wondering why something looks different today. Every observation matters. When we share what we see, together we build knowledge that helps our community, our environment, and even future generations.

Where We Began

WATCH in Wallaceburg, established in 2003, began as a community-driven initiative focused on safeguarding our local rivers and natural spaces. In 2024, recognizing the power of collective observation, WATCH introduced its Citizen Science program. This initiative empowers residents to actively monitor and document environmental changes, fostering a deeper connection with our surroundings. Through shared observations, we aim to enhance our understanding and stewardship of the natural world.

The Knowledge Hub

The Knowledge Hub is where all our reports, summaries, and discoveries come together. It’s a place to see what the community has observed, learn from real data, and explore the stories behind our local rivers and environment. Everyone’s observations help build a bigger picture, making the Knowledge Hub a living record of our shared science.

Meet Our Community Champions

Our Community Champions are local heroes who make a real impact by sharing what they see and know about our environment. From anglers to students, farmers to families, they help protect our rivers, lakes, and land by noticing changes and reporting them. Their observations fuel our Citizen Science program, guiding decisions and inspiring action. Together, we’re building a stronger, greener future—one observation at a time.
